THE MEDICAL HOUSE AWARDED GRANT
The Medical House PLC (TMH) (AIM: MLH), the Sheffield based drug
delivery and orthopaedic devices company, is expanding its premises
and increasing its workforce following a £842,000 grant
which has been jointly awarded by Selective Finance for Investment
in England (SFI), which is managed by Yorkshire Forward, and Objective
One. The total grant is comprised of £542,000 from SFI and
£300,000 from Objective One.
The grant will support the development of both TMH’s orthopaedics
division, Eurocut Ltd, and its drug delivery division, Medical
House Products Ltd, based in Attercliffe, Sheffield.
Eurocut's expansion will boost manufacturing capacity through
investment in new plant and equipment, the development of a range
of disposable orthopaedic instruments and production of orthopaedic
implants.
Medical House Products' expansion will support the growth of
its drug delivery activities, including the commercialisation
of its disposable AutoSafety Injector technology.
Executive Chairman, Ian Townsend, said: "The SFI grant represents
a very signification recognition of The Medical House’s
continued success in both orthopaedics and drug delivery. It will
assist us in extending and diversifying our manufacturing facilities,
so that we can capitalise on our growing reputation in both of
these markets. This support will consolidate our position as a
key employer within the Sheffield area and maintains our reputation
within the medical devices industry."
Alex McWhirter, head of enterprise at Yorkshire Forward, said:
"A key part of SFI is to invest in companies in Yorkshire
and Humber which will create an improvement in the economy, raise
productivity and improve employment skills. I am delighted The
Medical House will benefit from this grant to boost its manufacturing
capacity and continue its pioneering work to improve technology
in the medical sector."
