Distribution Agreement in Australia for new needle-free
drug delivery system
The Medical House PLC (“TMH”), the medical equipment
and devices company, announces that it has signed a distribution
agreement with Roth Medical Components Australia (Pty) Ltd (Roth
Medical Components) for the distribution in Australia of its new
needle-free drug delivery system for the delivery of insulin.
According to the W.H.O there were over 900,000 people diagnosed
with diabetes in Australia in the year 2000.
TMH announced on 8 May 2003 that its new needle-free drug delivery
system had been awarded the CE Mark. The agreement with Roth Medical
Components will become effective following the regulatory process
in Australia to approve the use of the CE marked device for the
delivery of insulin. This process is expected to be completed
during the current calendar year.
The agreement will run for an initial period of three years from
the effective date on an exclusive basis in Australia. Based on
indicative quantities, the sales of devices together with escalating
sales of the associated consumables could give rise to revenues
over the three-year period in excess of £700,000.
Roth Medical Components is a private company based in Australia
with a number of regional offices and coverage across the country.
It is involved in the marketing of a range of medical devices.
Chief Executive of TMH, Ian Townsend, said:
“Our needle-free devices have generated a number of enquiries
since receiving drug tariff approval for mhi-500 and continues
to be well received by potential commercial partners. This is
the second commercial agreement for the new device since gaining
approval just a few months ago. So far this year we have concluded
five distribution agreements for our range of needle-free systems
across a number of countries in both northern and southern hemisphere
territories. Our needle-free devices continue to gain acceptance
as a clear viable alternative to the needle.”
